Shadow of the Erdtree map fragment locations map

The Shadow of the Erdtree map fragment locations in Elden Ring’s DLC are essential for fully revealing the expansive Realm of Shadow, making navigation and exploration much easier. There are five map fragments scattered across key regions: Gravesite Plains, Scadu Altus, Southern Shores, Rauh Ruins, and Abyssal Woods. Each fragment unlocks the map for its respective area, allowing players to better traverse the vertical and complex landscapes filled with hidden paths, caves, and formidable enemies. Collecting all fragments is highly recommended to efficiently explore the DLC’s vast and intricate world.

As well as region-by-region location breakdowns, here is a DLC map fragment map to show all locations at a glance:

Gravesite Plains Map Fragment location

The Gravesite Plains map fragment in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is located just northeast of the Gravesite Plain Site of Grace, near the main road and below the Scorched Ruins landmark. Upon entering the DLC area, players should summon Torrent and head out from the starting cave toward the open plains. The map fragment is found on a small pillar in a field of tall grass near the road. Caution is advised as a strong Curseblade Ascetic enemy may ambush players near the gravestones on the way. This fragment is essential for revealing the map of the Gravesite Plains region and helps greatly with navigation in the DLC.

The Gravesite Plains map fragment can be found as soon as you start the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Head northeast from the Gravesite Plain Site of Grace to find the map fragment, but be careful as a Curseblade, a powerful new enemy wielding chakrams, is waiting for you to cross their path.

Scadu Altus map fragment location

The Scadu Altus map fragment in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree can be found by heading north along the main road from Miquella’s Cross, which is just outside the Castle Ensis boss arena. Castle Ensis, a minor Legacy Dungeon located northeast of Gravesite Plain, must be cleared to access Scadu Altus directly by defeating the boss Rellana. Alternatively, players can bypass the dungeon by taking the road south of the castle, following the slope to poison fields along the southern cliffs, and using a Spiritspring to jump into Scadu Altus at the Fort of Reprimand. The map fragment is located near an obelisk guarded by a Black Knight on horseback, close to a Messmer Soldier Camp.

In order to grab the Scadu Altus map fragment you must first defeat Rellana, Twin Moon Knight in Castle Ensis. Afterwards, head north toward Shadow Keep to find the Scadu Altus map fragment just before the encampment.

Southern Shores map fragment location

The Southern Shores map fragment in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is located in the Cerulean Coast, the southernmost area of the DLC overworld. To reach it, players must progress through the Dragon’s Pit dungeon southeast of Castle Ensis, defeat the Ancient Dragon-Man boss, and then continue southeast to the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. From there, riding on the giant dragon corpse southwest leads to a valley with blue flowers where the map fragment stele is found just below a cliff edge. Interacting with this fragment will reveal the southern part of the map, lifting the fog of war in that region.

The Southern Shores map fragment take a bit of time to reach, but is accessible right from the beginning of the map if you know the route.

Our how to get to the Cerulean Coast explainer goes into the route in more detail, but at a glance, the steps are:

1. Start at the Castle Front Site of Grace and head southeast under the rock archway.

2. Go down the slope on your left and into the cave entrance on the left side of the water.

3. Follow the path through the cave and rest at the Ellac River Cave Site of Grace.

4. Exit the cave and go south downstream, jumping from rock formation to rock formation.

5. Make your way down the waterfall by carefully dropping to the ledges below you.

6. Follow the river south, but be careful of the Furnace Golem in your path. Either defeat it or run into the southwest opening that leads to the Cerulean Coast Site of Grace.

7. Continue south to the coast to find the Southern Shore Map Fragment, but again, be careful of a Ghostflame Dragon that will impede your path.

Rauh Ruins map fragment location

The Rauh Ruins map fragment in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is located in the lower part of the Rauh Ruins area, accessible via a hidden cave north of the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace in Scadu Altus. To reach it, start from Moorth Ruins and head northeast past a pond with glowing worm creatures, entering a secret tunnel used by Perfumers. Follow the path through a poison field filled with Gravebirds, then continue northwest through a large cave opening to enter Rauh Base. From there, proceed southwest past two Guardian Golems to find the obelisk containing the map fragment just before the entrance to the Temple Town Ruins. This map fragment reveals both the Rauh Base and the upper Ancient Ruins of Rauh, helping to navigate this complex, verdant region.

Similar to the Southern Shores, you’ll need to go around a few areas to reach the Rauh Ruins map fragment.

1. Start from the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace and head northeast past the lake and statue of Marika into the cave.

2. Proceed through the cave and head northwest to find another cave that leads to the Ancient Ruins Base Site of Grace.

3. Continue southwest to find the Rauh Ruins map fragment, but be careful of the two Golems lying in wait.

Abyssal Woods map fragment location

To find the Abyssal Woods map fragment in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, you first need to defeat the Golden Hippopotamus boss in the Shadow Keep dungeon at the top of Scadu Altus. Afterward, enter a hidden area by striking an illusory wall near a painting inside the keep, which leads to a flooded area with Furnace Golems. Progress south from the Forsaken Graveyard Site of Grace, following the Woodland Trail and heeding the foreboding signs, until you reach the Church Ruins where the map fragment is located. The path is relatively manageable with few enemies except for an invading “Madding Hand” NPC.

The Abyssal Woods map fragment requires you to do something a little different: complete the Darklight Catacombs.

In short, to reach the Darklight Catacombs, you’ll need to find the illusionary wall inside the Shadow Keep and ride the coffin taking you to the Ruins of Unte. Our full how to get to the Abyssal Woods guide can explain step-by-step, but in summary, once you’ve reached the Ruins of Unte, follow the waterfalls and drop down the headstone ledges until you reach a foggy graveyard with a few Rosus statues. Search along the northern wall to find the entrance to the Darklight Catacombs.

After completing the Darklight Catacombs, you’ll be spit out at the Forsaken Graveyard site of grace in the Abyssal Woods.

  1. Follow the path south towards the Woodland Trail and don’t mind the warnings all over the place for now.
  2. Continue down the path to the southeast where you’ll encounter Madding Hand, who you can either defeat or run past.
  3. Keep going down the same path until you reach the Abyssal Woods map fragment.
