Tired of spending precious playtime petting every single animal on your farm? Fields of Mistria’s latest update introduces the coveted Auto-Petters-animal sprite statues that automatically shower your barn critters with affection, saving you countless clicks and hours. But unlocking this magical convenience isn’t a walk in the park; you’ll need to delve deep into the mines, master the Dragon’s Breath spell, and explore hidden caves to claim your automated farm helper. Ready to transform your farming routine? Here’s how to get your hands on the Auto-Petters and craft them yourself.
Note that these can only be placed in large barns and large coops, so if you don’t have those yet, you should work on that first.
This process is pretty similar to how you unlock sprinklers (water sprite statues), too.
Below we explain how to unlock Fields of Mistria’s “auto petter” (the animal sprite statue) and how to craft more.
How to unlock the auto petter in Fields of Mistria
To unlock the auto petter in Fields of Mistria, you need to reach level 60 in the mines and complete the “Breaking the Fire Seal” questline, which grants you the Dragon’s Breath spell. With this spell, head to the blocked cave entrance next to Errol’s cabin in The Narrows and use Dragon’s Breath to break through the rock barrier. Inside the cave, you will find the first animal sprite statue (the auto petter) and its crafting recipe. Afterward, you can craft more auto petters using refined stones, essence, and shiny beads once you have unlocked the Stone Refinery and reached renown rank 55. The auto petter must be placed in large barns or coops and requires essence stones to operate continuously.
In order to unlock the animal sprite statue, you’ll need to get to level 60 of the mines and interact with the tablet to start the “Breaking the Fire Seal” questline. From here, you’ll be guided with what to do: chat with Juniper, get help from Balor, and hand over some items. After some cutscenes play out, you’ll be gifted a new ability: Dragon’s Breath. (You will also unlock Caldarus as a romance candidate by continuing on with this quest.)
After you unlock the new skill, you’ll want to head to Errol’s Cabin in The Narrows and take a look at the blocked cave next to the house. Use the Dragon’s Breath ability to crack that cavern open.
Use the Dragon’s Breath ability, making sure to aim upward after using it, to blast away those rocks. After doing so, you can enter the cave and get an animal sprite statue, along with the recipe to make more.
How to make animal sprite statues
To make animal sprite statues in Fields of Mistria, you first need to unlock the crafting recipe by reaching level 60 in the mines and completing the “Breaking the Fire Seal” questline, which grants you the Dragon’s Breath spell. Use this spell to break open the blocked cave next to Errol’s cabin in The Narrows, where you will find a chest containing the initial animal sprite statue and the recipe to craft more. To craft additional statues, you must have unlocked the Stone Refinery and reached level 20 in crafting. Each statue requires 10 refined stones, 50 essence, and 3 shiny beads, which can be earned by hand-feeding animals with the Currency of Care skill. Place the statues in large barns or coops and add essence stones to activate their auto-petting function, which automatically pets all animals in the building, saving you time and effort on your farm.
To make more statues, you’ll need to progress in the town’s story a bit, reaching at least these requirements:
- Reach level 55 renown
- Complete the “Repair the Inn” story quest
Once you do so, you’ll get some mail from Adeline saying to meet you in front of the mines to make a Stone Refinery. Using the refinery, you can make cut stone and essence stones, which you’ll need to make and power the statues.
You’ll need to place essence stones on the statues in order to power them. Bigger stones will keep your statues powered for longer, so we recommend making the biggest ones for the sake of convenience. You can also find essence stones in treasure chests in the mines, if you’re lucky.
To make one statue, you’ll need the following:
- 10 cut stone
- 50 essence
- 3 shiny beads
