Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Enir-Ilim Legacy Dungeon Walkthrough Guide

Guides

The gates of Enir-Ilim, the final Legacy Dungeon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, beckon only the bravest Tarnished. Accessible after conquering the DLC’s toughest foes and burning the Sealing Tree, this labyrinthine stronghold is packed with relentless enemies, hidden treasures, and the epic conclusion to your journey in the Land of Shadow. Ready your blade-Enir-Ilim’s secrets and its final boss await just beyond the Outer Wall.

Enir-Ilim location

Enir-Ilim is the final legacy dungeon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, accessible only after significant progress through the DLC’s main storyline. To reach Enir-Ilim, players must first defeat Messmer the Impaler in Shadow Keep to obtain Messmer’s Kindling, and then overcome Romina, Saint of the Bud, in the Church of the Bud, located in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. After defeating Romina, proceed to the Sealing Tree behind her arena and use Messmer’s Kindling to burn it, triggering a cutscene that teleports you directly into Enir-Ilim. Upon arrival, you’ll find yourself at the Enir-Ilim: Outer Wall Site of Grace, marking the entrance to this challenging endgame area.

You’ll only reach Enir-Ilim after a lot of other work, since it’s technically the DLC’s final region. After defeating Messmer the Impaler in Shadow Keep, you’ll need to head into the Rauh Ruins. There, at the Church of the Bud, you’ll have to face Romina, Saint of the Bud. On the other side of her boss fight, you’ll find the Sealing Tree. Buring it with Messmer’s Kindling will (finally) transport you to Enir-Ilim.

Inside Enir-Ilim, you’ll have your final confrontation with Needle Knight Leda and then the DLC’s ultimate fight against Promised Consort Radahn.

Burn the Sealing Tree

To access Enir-Ilim in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, you must burn the Sealing Tree, a pivotal step in the DLC’s main questline. The Sealing Tree is located just beyond Romina, Saint of the Bud’s boss arena in the Ancient Ruins of Ruah, near the Church of the Bud. After defeating Romina, proceed to the tree and use Messmer’s Kindling-an item obtained by defeating Messmer in the Shadow Keep. Interacting with the Sealing Tree using the kindling will trigger a cutscene, dispelling the shadow from Belurat and immediately teleporting you to Enir-Ilim, the final Legacy Dungeon of the expansion. This action unlocks the path to the endgame content and the concluding boss battles of Shadow of the Erdtree.

Defeating Messmer the Impaler (and Base Serpent Messmer) will reward you with Messmer’s Kindling. Your next stop is the Church of the Bud in western Rauh Ruins. After defeating Romina, Saint of the Bud, you’ll find the Sealing Tree behind her arena.

Approach the tree and choose to burn it. After a quick cutscene, you’ll be transported to Enir-Ilim.

Reach the First Rise Site of Grace

After being transported to Enir-Ilim, you’ll find yourself at the Enir-Ilim: Outer Wall Site of Grace. From here, head up the main stairs and curve around to the right. At the top, a Divine Bird Warrior enemy will descend the stairs on your left. Defeat or avoid this foe, then continue up those stairs. Once inside, loop around to the right and take the short staircase on your left to discover the First Rise Site of Grace, marking your first key checkpoint within Enir-Ilim.

When you arrive in Enir-Ilim, you’ll be standing at the Enir-Ilim: Outer Wall Site of Grace (there’s also a Somber Smithing Stone off to the west). Head up the stairs and around to the right.

At the top, a Divine Bird Warrior will come down the stairs on your left. Head up those stairs. Inside, loop around to the right and take the short stairs on your left to find the First Rise Site of Grace.

Reach the Spiral Rise Site of Grace

After activating the Enir-Ilim: Outer Wall Site of Grace, proceed up the main staircases, dealing with the Divine Bird Warrior that rushes down from the left. Continue climbing and navigate past additional enemies, including long-range casters, as you ascend through the castle’s outer defenses. Collect useful items like Fire Arrows and Golden Bolts along the way, but focus on pushing forward. At the top, open the large doors to enter a new chamber, where you’ll find both a Miquella’s Cross and the Spiral Rise Site of Grace. Activating this grace marks a key checkpoint in your exploration of Enir-Ilim, allowing you to safely rest and prepare for the challenges ahead.

Take either of the curved staircases up to the level above you and then climb the stairs to find a Somber Smithing Stone and a dead end. Head back down to the site of grace.

There’s a straight hallway to the southeast with a Messmerfire Grease on the stairs. At the end, there’s a lift that will take you down to Belurat – you’re on the other side of the branch-blocked path you found after defeating the Divine Beast Dancing Lion. There’s nothing for us to do here at the moment, so you don’t actually have to take the elevator.

Instead, head to the west and up the stairs. Keep to the right and head inside the room. Clear the Shamans inside. Look in the back right corner past the tree root for a door. Head through, deal with the other Shaman, and grab the Rune Arc.

Drop off the ledge into the courtyard and clear out the Shamans and the Godskin-sized shaman who drops a Revered Spirit Ash. On the east side of the courtyard, take the stairs down.

On the landing below, you’ll find a large tree surrounded by Man-Flies. Head along the roots to the west to find an altar room with another Revered Spirit Ash. Backtrack up to the fountain.

This time, go up the stairs heading east. Follow them around to the left. When you reach the top of that same large tree, head to the right. Drop off the ledge and onto the tree. Grab the Furlcalling Finger Remedy, and then follow the branches to the far side. Drop onto ledge and grab the Spira incantation.

Drop off the ledge and head back up the same stairs. Go past the tree and deal with the Divine Beast Warrior. At the first large landing, take out the really annoying caster and then keep to the right. There’s a small staircase leading down back the way you just came.

Head down, take a right, and grab the Inquisitor Ashes. Go back up to the main stairs and keep heading up.

There’s another shaman at the top of the stairs – above the door – who will ruin your day, so keep moving as you head up. Push through the doors to find the Spiral Rise Site of Grace, a Scadutree Fragment, and a Miquella’s Cross.

Reach the Cleansing Chamber Anteroom Site of Grace

To reach the Cleansing Chamber Anteroom Site of Grace in Enir-Ilim, continue your ascent from the Spiral Rise through the dungeon’s rooftops and stairways, navigating past challenging enemies. The path leads to a final set of stairs where you’ll confront a formidable storm-infused Divine Beast Warrior, whom you can engage with the help of a Spirit Summon. Once defeated, proceed forward to find the Cleansing Chamber Anteroom, where you’ll discover both the Site of Grace and the last Scadutree Fragment on the main path before the true final boss encounter.

Head up the spiraling stairs to the open window on your left – where that jerk caster is. Jump out onto the roof and take a right.

Follow the roofs around and past the Gravebirds. Jump to the balcony at the far side, and take an immediate left into the room to find a Revered Spirit Ash.

Back outside, you have two options – follow the stairs up all the way to the next set or roofs, or take a quick detour – to end up in the same place. Just a little up the stairs, look for another staircase below you on the right. Jump the railing to drop onto them.

Head up those stairs and through the door to find the Horned Warrior Ashes and some Staunching Bolluses. Take a right and climb the ladder.

Head out onto the balcony to grab the Golden Horn Tender, and then climb the next ladder. Jump out onto the roofs ahead of you and deal with the Divine Beast Warrior waiting for you.

Take a left and head into the room at the top of the stairs – this is where the original stairs we jumped off end. Inside, you’ll find a Scadutree Fragment. Head back out and continue across the roofs heading east.

Stick to the left, and you’ll come to a corpse with a Sunwarmth Stone. Head back around to where you dropped out of the tower. Climb up the slanted roofs and into the window.

Take a left and climb the stairs to the top. Clear the Tree Shaman, and ride the lift down to the bottom. Follow the only path you can outside and deal with a Curseblade so you can pick up a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. Back at the lift, face southwest and start it back up.

There’s a ledge ahead of you just a little ways up. Jump across to it and pick up the Gravebird Helm. Drop down, recall the lift, and ride it to the top.

Head outside and up the stairs. Cross the next landing and deal with the Divine Beast Warrior – this one carrying a Horned Warrior Greatsword. Continue past him and up the stairs.

Inside the next tower, you’ll find the Cleansing Chamber Anteroom Site of Grace and a Scadutree Fragment.

Needle Knight Leda boss fight

The Needle Knight Leda boss fight is a climactic encounter near the end of the Enir-Ilim Legacy Dungeon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. This battle is unique, functioning more like an NPC invasion than a traditional boss fight, as Leda summons several allies to fight alongside her based on the player’s choices throughout the DLC. The fight begins after interacting with Leda’s red summon sign in the Cleansing Chamber, and players may face up to four adversaries at once, making crowd control and ally management essential. Leda herself wields a powerful greatsword and uses both close and long-range attacks, capable of defeating players in just a few hits if they’re not careful. She and her allies are vulnerable to Frostbite and Blood Loss, so weapons or items that inflict these effects can be especially effective. Summoning your own NPC allies, Spirit Ashes, or the Mimic Tear can help even the odds, and focusing on defeating her allies one by one before Leda joins the fray is a recommended strategy. Defeating Leda rewards players with her sword and, shortly after, her armor set, marking a major milestone before the final challenges of Enir-Ilim.

Head east and up the stairs. You’ll come to a huge, sandy, open arena and Needle Knight Leda will start bad-mouthing you.

When she challenges you and leaves, check behind you before you hit her summon sign. There will be signs for Thiollier and Pureblood Knight Ansbach there. Summon them (to progress their respective questlines) and then hit the red sign to challenge Leda.

After you defeat Leda and her allies, you’ll have a ton of loot to collect around the arena – every one will drop their armor set and weapons. When you’re done picking stuff up, continue east. When you hit the hall, Leda herself will be on your right for you to loot.

Go up the stairs to your left and ride the elevator to the top. Ansbach will be waiting for you at the top. Exhaust his dialogue, and then head up the stairs to the Divine Gate Front Staircase Site of Grace.

Elden Ring DLC final boss fight

At the pinnacle of Enir-Ilim, the final legacy dungeon in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, players face the DLC’s climactic challenge: Promised Consort Radahn. This ultimate encounter is widely regarded as one of the toughest in the entire game, surpassing even Radahn’s original appearance in the base game with a faster, more aggressive moveset and punishing attacks. The battle unfolds in two intense phases-after Radahn’s health drops to a third, Miquella joins the fray, amplifying the difficulty with new holy attacks and relentless pressure. Players must master precise dodging and exploit Radahn’s vulnerabilities, particularly to Frostbite and Hemorrhage, to stand a chance. Optional NPC summons, determined by your questline choices, can assist in the fight, but many find the encounter brutally demanding regardless of support. Overcoming Promised Consort Radahn marks the triumphant conclusion to Shadow of the Erdtree’s epic journey.

All (“all”) that’s left is tackling Shadow of the Erdtree’s final boss, Promised Consort Radahn.
