Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Ren-Iz Shrine Location and Puzzle Walkthrough

Guides

Hidden high in the caves of Lanayru, the Ren-iz Shrine challenges players with shifting platforms and clever timing puzzles. Here’s how to reach its secluded entrance and solve every mechanism inside for an easy Light of Blessing.

When you’re done, our shrine locations page or interactive Hyrule map can direct you toward something else to do.

Ren-iz Shrine location

Ren-iz Shrine sits in the Lanayru Great Spring region, on a small ridge just east of Skull Lake and north of the Zora River. Its approximate coordinates are ,,3875, 1357, 0160,,, and you can spot its green glow from the surrounding cliffs at night. Gliding from a nearby Skyview Tower or using the hills to the south makes reaching the shrine safer, as the valleys below contain strong enemies and rough terrain.

Ren-iz Shrine is found within the Hyrule Field region. Its exact location is (0756, 0823, 0082).

You’ll find Ren-iz Shrine inside of a huge, hollowed out tree stump at the top of Crenel Hills. It’s about halfway between the Lookout Landing and Eldin Canyon Skyview Towers. Neither of them are exactly close, though, and there’re no Sky Islands nearby. From Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower, it will require a bit over two full stamina rings to paraglide there, so you might be better off arriving on horseback (Woodland Stable is not too far) or foot.

Ren-iz Shrine walkthrough

Ren-iz Shrine is a combat-focused trial that challenges players to defeat a Construct using the tools found inside. Use nearby materials to build shields or weapons, and make use of the terrain for cover and positioning. Rely on perfect dodges and flurry rush attacks to deal steady damage while avoiding hits. After defeating the Construct, open the chest for a useful reward, then approach the altar to claim the Light of Blessing.

Ren-iz Shrine is a relatively quick shrine where you’ll get to play around with building ramps to launch balls into baskets.

1. As you enter Ren-iz Shrine, you’ll see a long ski jump-like ramp on your left, a crystal that triggers a ball to roll down that ramp ahead of you, and a basket across a wide gap to your right. Just past the crystal, you’ll see a short wall (these are called pony walls, apparently).

2. Past that, there’s a metal panel on the ground. Use Ultrahand to pick it up and carry it back to the pony wall.

3. Place the metal panel so the left end catches the lip in the floor and the right end rests on the pony wall.

4. Hit the crystal with a weapon or arrow to trigger the ball. It will hit your ramp and fall into its target to the right. That will open the gate to the next room.

5. The setup in the second room is almost identical, but there’s no pony wall this time. There are also two metal panels – one long, and one square – on the floor. As you enter, you’ll be able to see a chest to your right, but you can’t reach it yet.

6. Attach the panels together end-to-end with Ultrahand to make yourself a bridge. Place it so you can reach the chest. Cross your bridge and open the chest for a mighty Zonaite shield.

7. Back on the main floor, unstick the panels.

8. Turn the square panel at a 90° angle and attach it to the long one in an L shape.

9. Place your L to make a ramp just like you did in the first room – you’ll need to rotate it to be oriented like ¬.

Best way to reach Crenel Hills from Lookout Landing

The best way to reach Crenel Hills from Lookout Landing involves using the nearby Lookout Landing Skyview Tower for a quick aerial launch, followed by gliding toward Hyrule Castle and the hills beyond.

Skyview Tower Route

Activate the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower if not already done, then launch to gain height above the castle. Glide northeast, aiming for the Crenel Hills’ peak where Ren-iz Shrine sits in a large tree stump-two full stamina wheels may be needed, so cook stamina foods beforehand.

Ground Travel Option

Head east-northeast on foot or horse along the path past Orsedd Bridge, crossing the Hylia River’s west branch. Follow Crenel Road north through the hills, avoiding enemy camps with Bokoblins and Aerocudas; this takes longer but conserves stamina.

Should I ride a horse or glide from Lookout Landing to Crenel Hills

Gliding from Lookout Landing to Crenel Hills is generally the better choice over riding a horse. It saves significant time and stamina while offering a direct aerial path with fewer combat encounters.

Gliding Advantages

Launch from the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower for maximum height, then glide northeast over Hyrule Castle toward the hills’ distinctive tree stump shrine. With two stamina wheels or stamina-restoring food, the distance (roughly 1,500 units) becomes manageable without landing, bypassing ground hazards like Bokoblin camps.

Horse Riding Drawbacks

Horses speed up the ground route along Crenel Road but require navigating rivers, steep inclines, and enemy patrols east-northeast from Lookout Landing, taking 10-15 minutes versus gliding’s 2-3 minutes. Horses cannot enter shrines or sky areas, limiting flexibility upon arrival.

When to Choose Horse

Opt for a horse if stamina is critically low, you’re carrying heavy loads, or prefer scouting ground resources en route. Register one at a stable first for reliability.
