Shrouded in fog and mystery, the Thyphlo Ruins Tower refuses to activate like the others. Hidden mechanisms, missing parts, and an unusual obstacle overhead make restoring this Skyview Tower one of Hyrule’s trickiest challenges-until you know the secret.
Figuring out all of the Skyview Tower locations is merely the first step to unlocking Hyrule’s map in its entirety. Below you’ll find a walkthrough to solve the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
How to fix the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower
After speaking with Billson at the base of the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower, look up to spot the floating stone platforms circling above the structure, as one of them is physically blocking the hatch at the very top. Use Ultrahand and Ascend to reach a nearby low platform, defeat any Constructs there, and attach the available Zonai rockets so you can launch the platform high enough to glide over to the tower roof. Once you land above the tower, grab the obstructing metal platform with Ultrahand and slide it away from the hatch, then drop back down inside and interact with the terminal to bring the tower back online and reveal the surrounding section of the Hyrule map.
The Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower is located north of the Great Hyrule Forest at the coordinates (0343, 3133, 0180), west of the Eldin Mountains.

Getting to this tower might require you to hop on a vantage point around the swampy water, as otherwise you’ll drown after a few seconds.
Once you’re on safe ground again, head to the tower itself to find Billson, an NPC who’s attempting to repair the tower. The gist is that something is wrong with the device, but the structure seems fine, so Billson has no clue what the cause might be.

You’ll notice a few massive blocks surrounding the tower, which are similar to the ones on the Great Sky Island from the beginning of the game. You can use Ultrahand to move them around, and they’ll stay floating in mid-air. I moved the lowest one, which held a Construct waiting with rockets, so be careful. The rockets are super useful, though, and exactly what we’ll be using.
I fused one on each side of the block, and then hit one of them to launch myself to the sky.

The rockets quickly broke down, but all you need here is to lift yourself high enough so you can paraglide to the top of the tower. Once you’re there, use Ultrahand once more to move the block that is preventing the tower’s lid from opening. That’s what was causing the issue all along. Just stand around it, and move the block to a side until you hear the success sound.
Show step-by-step rocket method for removing the platform
Here is a clear rocket-only method to remove the blocking stone platform from the top of the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower in Tears of the Kingdom.
1. Get onto the floating slab
-
Stand under one of the low stone platforms near the tower (the best one has several rockets already on it, slightly east of the tower door).
-
Use Ascend from directly underneath to appear on top of that floating slab.
2. Prepare the rocket lift
-
Use Ultrahand to pick up the Zonai Rockets lying on the slab and stick 2-4 of them to the sides of the slab, all pointing straight up.
-
Make sure the rockets are not blocked by other objects so they can fire cleanly and push the slab upward.
3. Ride the slab up
-
Stand safely in the middle of the slab, then strike one of the rockets (weapon, arrow, or other damage) to activate them all.
-
Let the slab carry you up until you are clearly above or level with the tower’s roof and the big stone block that’s resting on it.
4. Move to the tower top
-
When the rockets burn out, jump off the slab and open your paraglider, steering toward the top of the Skyview Tower.
-
Land next to or directly on the large stone block that is sitting on the tower lid.
5. Use rockets to throw the block away
-
With Ultrahand, lift the big stone block slightly and rotate/slide it so you can attach 1-2 rockets to one side of it, pointing away from the tower.
-
Set the block back down on the roof, then hit one of its rockets so it fires and blasts the block off the tower, completely clearing the hatch.
6. Finish the tower
-
After the block is gone, drop back down to the tower entrance and interact with the console to activate the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower.
-
Step onto the launch circle to reveal the surrounding map and permanently unlock the tower as a fast travel point.
What game or mod is this rocket platform from
This “rocket platform” refers to the floating stone slabs with attached Zonai Rockets in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, specifically the ones around the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower puzzle. These are part of the base game’s Zonai device system, not from any mod or a different game.
