Hidden among the Abbey’s ancient grounds lie four Elemental Rods-each tied to earth, fire, water, and air. Finding them isn’t just a scavenger task; it’s the key to awakening secret powers that few players ever uncover.
Elemental Rods
The Elemental Rods are four magical artifacts scattered throughout the Abbey grounds in Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Each rod represents a different element-Air, Fire, Water, and Earth-and must be gathered to solve the mystery of the Elemental Altar. Players can find these rods in specific locations such as caves, rooftops, and near key landmarks within the Abbey. Collecting all four and placing them on the altar rewards players with unique items and advances certain exploration objectives.
Water Rod
- Head to the pool, which is beside the Yard of the Abbey.
- Search under the bridge to find the Water Rod.
Air Rod
- Travel to Agatha’s Altar on the southwest side of the Abbey grounds.
- Head under the archway and open the door using the first Word of Power.
- Hug the left wall, which will lead you to the Air Rod.
Earth Rod
- Make your way to the Hunter’s Folly at the southeast side of the Abbey grounds.
- Open the door in between the two statues using the first Word of Power.
- Collect the Earth Rod inside.
Fire Rod
- Head to the chapel, which is at the bottom of the Abbey.
- Grab the Fire Rod on the pedestal.
Placement of Elemental Rods
- Return to Agatha’s Altar.
- Place the elemental rods in their respective pedestals according to the image above.
- Obtain the Moon Seal.
Unlocking the Power of Atum
Atum’s power is tied to the balance of the elements, making his Rod a key piece in completing the elemental puzzle within the Abbey grounds. Found in the Whispering Wood area, the Rod of Atum emits a faint golden glow that distinguishes it from other artifacts. Placing it in the correct pedestal within Agatha’s Altar restores a portion of the elemental harmony and brings you one step closer to accessing powerful rewards hidden throughout Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
- Unlock the eastern portion of the Abbey grounds using the first Word of Power.
- Travel to the east side of the Abbey grounds to find the Blood Gate.
- Interact with the door at night to reveal a trial.
- Complete the trial to receive the second Word of Power.
How to get the Reveal Word of Power after placing rods
After placing the four Elemental Rods (Water, Air, Earth, Fire) correctly at Agatha’s Altar (also called the Elemental Altar) in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, you’ll receive the second Moon Seal.
Next Steps
Take the Moon Seal to the second Blood Gate trial, called the Trial of the Elder God Atum, located north of the Standing Stones on the Stone Terrace (east side of the map).
Completing the Trial
Use your “Open” Word of Power to access the area if needed, then place the Moon Seal at the Elder Atum shrine. Defeat the enemies in the combat encounter (recommended level 8; can be challenged once per night).
Unlocking Reveal
Victory grants the “Reveal” Word of Power, which uncovers hidden paths, bridges, and secrets marked by its symbol (hold R2/RT to select and use it).
