How do I catch a shiny Timburr?

To catch a shiny Timburr in Pokémon GO, the best opportunity is during the Timburr Community Day event, when Timburr spawns are significantly increased and the shiny encounter rate improves to about 1 in 25. During this event, Timburr will appear more frequently in the wild, and using Incense and Lure Modules can further boost spawn rates. It is recommended to catch as many Timburr as possible during the three-hour event to maximize chances of finding a shiny, as well as to collect Candy, Stardust, and Candy XL. Additionally, completing the event-exclusive Special Research and participating in four-star Gurdurr raids can provide more Timburr encounters with the same shiny odds. Outside of the event, the shiny rate is lower, around 1 in 64.

Community Day will boost the shiny rate of the highlighted Pokémon, making it the best chance to get a shiny.

As per old research by the now-defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback Machine), Shiny rates on Community Days are about 1 in 24, which means that if you keep playing throughout the three-hour window, you should find quite a few shiny Pokémon.

If you’re short on time – or Poké Balls – you can pop an Incense, then quickly tap each Pokémon to check for shiny ones, running from any that aren’t shiny. Notably, any Pokémon you’ve already tapped will face where your player is standing, so that should help identify which ones you may have already checked.

What Community Day move does Timburr’s evolution Conkeldurr learn?

Conkeldurr, the evolution of Timburr, learns the exclusive Community Day move Brutal Swing during the Pokémon GO Timburr Community Day event. This Dark-type Charged Attack can be obtained by evolving Gurdurr into Conkeldurr during the event or up to five hours afterward. Brutal Swing has a power of 65 in both Trainer Battles and Gyms/Raids. While this move is particularly useful in PvP, it is considered practically useless for raid attacking, where Conkeldurr is already a strong Fighting-type attacker without it.

If you evolve Timburr all the way into its final evolution Conkeldurr by 10 p.m. in your local time (five hours after the Community Day ends), it will learn the Community Day bonus dark-type charged move Brutal Swing.

If you miss out on evolving during this period, you can do so again during the “catch-up” Community Day weekend event in December. If you don’t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM to get the move. (A regular Charged TM won’t do the trick, by the way – it has to be an Elite one.)

How good is Timburr’s evolution Conkeldurr in the meta?

Conkeldurr, Timburr’s evolution, is a strong contender in the Pokémon GO meta, especially in the Master League where its bulk and hard-hitting moves give it an edge over similar Fighting-types like Machamp. With a max CP of 3773 and a best moveset of Counter and Dynamic Punch, Conkeldurr excels in PvP by leveraging its high damage output and decent bulk. The addition of Brutal Swing as a charged move from the Community Day event further enhances its versatility, improving its matchups in the Great and Ultra Leagues by providing useful Dark-type coverage. While it is somewhat vulnerable to Fairy, Flying, and Psychic types, Conkeldurr remains a solid Fighting-type choice for raids, gym defense, and PvP battles, making it a valuable addition to many teams.

When discounting Legendaries, Mega Evolutions, or Shadow Pokémon, Conkeldurr is one of the best fighting-type Pokémon in the game when it comes to PvE (such as raids or Rocket encounters), giving even Lucario and Machamp a run for their money. This makes Community Day an efficient way to add a powerful fighting-type to your collection.

In PvP / Go Battle League, JRE47 on The Silph Road sub-reddit says it will make a “big improvement” in the Great and Ultra Leagues. We’d recommend having a fighting-type charged move in the mix – see below on what we suggest – but all signs point to the addition of a Community Day move making an impact in Conkeldurr’s place competitively.

This moveset leverages Conkeldurr’s Fighting-type strengths and maximizes its damage output, making it a strong contender despite competition from other Fighting-type Pokémon like Lucario and Shadow Machamp.

The best moveset for Conkeldurr is all fighting-type moves Counter and Dynamic Punch.

Community Day move Brutal Swing is also well worth factoring in, so we’d recommend buying a second charged move slot to give you a dark-type option.

Timburr Community Day tips and bonuses

During Timburr Community Day in Pokémon GO, players can enjoy a variety of bonuses to maximize their experience. Timburr will appear more frequently in the wild with boosted shiny odds of 1 in 25, giving a great chance to catch a Shiny Timburr. Players will earn 3× Stardust and 2× Candy for every Pokémon caught, along with double the chance to obtain Candy XL if they are level 31 or higher. Incense and Lure Modules will last for three hours, enhancing spawn rates throughout the event. Additionally, players can make an extra Special Trade and benefit from 50% reduced Stardust costs for trades. Evolving Gurdurr during the event or within two hours afterward grants a Conkeldurr with the exclusive Charged Attack Brutal Swing. Some bonuses, like cheaper trades and extra Special Trades, extend until 10 PM local time, beyond the main event hours.

Other ways to get more out of the event include:

Paying $1 (or the regional equivalent) for a themed Special Research story, featuring additional spawns and Candy, as well as a short storyline to complete that adds extra structure to your afternoon.
If you can Mega Evolve Blaziken, Medicham, or Buneary, you’ll score additional Timburr Candy per catch, with it being either 1 or 2 Candy depending on their level.
If the usual 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. spawn increase doesn’t get you the Pokémon you wanted, you can try raiding for another chance, as there will be special Gurdurr four-star raids from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time.
