Pony Points in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Earn Use and Rewards Guide

Guides

Pony Points aren’t just a reward for loyal travelers in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom-they’re your ticket to rare gear, stable upgrades, and special perks across Hyrule’s network of stables. Here’s how to rack them up and make every stop at the stable count.

Our Tears of the Kingdom Pony Points guide will explain how stables’ Pony Points work and list the rewards you’ll receive for earning them.

Stable locations

Stable locations across Hyrule act as key points for earning and using Pony Points. Each stable is marked by a horse-head icon on the map and can be found near major roads or settlements. Players can visit these spots to register new horses, rest, and collect rewards for their accumulated points. The more stables you discover and interact with, the easier it becomes to manage your mounts and access valuable services throughout your journey.

You’ll fine a total of 14 stables (and two mini stables) across Hyrule’s surface. You’ll find them in most regions and always along a main road.

At stables, you can register and store wild horses you’ve caught, sleep a night in a cozy bed, cook some meals, shop with Beedle, or pick up a number of side adventures and quests – like taking the Stable Trotters to the Great Fairy locations. There’s also always a shrine nearby, and a well (if you’re looking to complete the “Where Are the Wells?” side quest).

Earning Pony Points

You earn Pony Points by interacting with stables across Hyrule, so visit as many as you can and use their services regularly. Registering new horses, staying the night, taking out or boarding a mount, and using the customization services at the counter all contribute points to your total. Each stable shares the same Pony Points Card, so progress carries over no matter which location you use. Keep an eye on the card by speaking to the stable clerk, as rewards are tied to specific point thresholds and can be claimed as soon as you reach them.

You’ll earn Pony Points for interacting with stables. You’ll earn one Pony Point the first time you visit a stable (and speak to the owner). You’ll also get one for registering a horse or for paying for a bed.

Each stable also has its own “A Picture For” side quest available (though one, Gerudo Canyon Stable, technically has two). Check the wall for an empty picture frame and interact with it. The owner will describe a picture they’d like to paint and you’ll be tasked with finding the location they specify and snapping a photo for them. Show them the correct photo, and you’ll earn a Pony Point.

Pony Points rewards

Pony Points are a reward currency earned by using stables across Hyrule. You gain points by registering new horses, lodging for the night, or using stable services. Accumulated points can be exchanged for special rewards such as gear, cosmetic items, or access to unique features that enhance your stable experience. Each stable tracks your progress, so consistent visits help you build up points faster and enjoy more perks during your travels.

When you enter a stable, head through the door on the right. The Pony Points ledger is a book on the check-in desk on your left.

You can check your Pony Points balance at any time by looking at your Pony Points Card in your inventory’s Key Items or by looking at the book. Both will also tell you how many points you need for the next reward.

As you earn up to 50 Pony Points, you’ll unlock things like the useful Towing Harness, a paraglider fabric, four additional slots to store horses, and a number of horse customization options like bridles and saddles, and the ability to change your horse’s mane.

At seven points, you’ll unlock Melanya beds at stables – a fancier bed that gives you some extra hearts and stamina, and also gets you a vision from the Horse God.

Tears of the Kingdom Pony Points rewards

Pony Points rewards scale with your total earned, offering items from basic arrows and ingredients at 100 points to powerful armor upgrades and rare materials at 999. Players redeem them at stables through the Pony Point counter after accumulating enough via horse registration and usage. Higher tiers grant exclusive sets like the Stable Outfit or monster parts for crafting, making consistent riding key to accessing these prizes.

Best route to farm Pony Points quickly

The fastest way to farm Pony Points in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is by repeatedly paying to sleep at a single stable’s standard bed, earning 1 point per night for 20 rupees each time.โ€‹

Quickest Farming Method

Repeatedly lodging at the cheapest stable bed guarantees 1 Pony Point per cycle without needing to travel or hunt horses. Each sleep takes about 30 seconds including dialogue, so maxing out at 60 points requires roughly 30 minutes and 1,200 rupees (less after the 40-point discount reward).โ€‹

Recommended Stable Location

Start at Lookout Landing Stable in central Hyrule for convenience, as it’s early-game accessible after one temple and near fast travel points. Pay 20 rupees for a standard bed, wake up, claim rewards at the Pony Points counter if ready, then repeat-avoid free Sleepover Tickets to ensure points.โ€‹

Efficient Loop for Variety

For a semi-natural route without pure grinding:

  • Visit 14 main stables first for 1 point each (e.g., Lookout Landing โ†’ Woodland โ†’ Wetland).โ€‹

  • Register spare horses (first is free for 2 points) while looping roads.

  • Mix in 2-3 sleeps per stable and nearby side quests like “The Incomplete Stable” for bonus points.โ€‹

Which stables are closest together for repeated sleeping runs

The closest stables for efficient repeated sleeping runs in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are clustered in central Hyrule, minimizing travel time between sleeps to farm Pony Points.โ€‹

Optimal Cluster

Lookout Landing Stable, Woodland Stable, and Wetland Stable form the tightest group, all within a short horse ride or glide along major roads near Central Hyrule’s towers. These are accessible early and let you sleep, claim rewards inside, then dash to the next in under a minute.โ€‹

Step-by-Step Loop

  • Start at Lookout Landing Stable (south-central): Sleep for 20 rupees (1 point), claim at Pony Points counter.

  • Head northeast ~5 minutes on horse to Woodland Stable (near Eldin): Repeat sleep and claim.

  • Go southwest ~4 minutes to Wetland Stable (Hyrule Ridge): Sleep, claim, then loop back.

  • Cycle these three for 3 points per ~15-minute loop; rotate to avoid pattern fatigue while stacking points fast.โ€‹

Alternatives

Highland Stable and New Serenne Stable pair closely in the northeast (near Snowfield), ideal for mid-game with cold resistance. Avoid spread-out ones like Foothill or Lakeside for pure sleeping runs, as longer travel slows farming.โ€‹
