Serutabomac Shrine Walkthrough in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom – Location and Guide

Guides

Hidden high above the Great Plateau, the Serutabomac Shrine challenges players with precise timing and clever use of Recall. Here’s how to reach this secluded spot and solve its intricate puzzle for a clean, satisfying clear.

Though Serutabomac Shrine is located in the floating portion of Hyrule Castle, you don’t need to have completed any temples or significantly progressed the story to reach and complete the shrine.

When you’re done, our shrine locations page or interactive Hyrule map can direct you toward something else to do.

Serutabomac Shrine location

Serutabomac Shrine is located in the Great Hyrule Forest region, just north of Lake Saria and west of the Korok Forest, near coordinates roughly (0177, 0200, 0020). To reach it, you can approach from the Woodland Stable or travel through the Lost Woods by following the path that avoids the fog. The shrine sits on higher ground near the forest edge, making it visible once you clear the mist and gain some altitude.

The Serutabomac Shrine is found within the Central Hyrule region. It’s on the north side of Hyrule Castle, level B1, next to a waterfall; if you have any pieces of the Zora Armor set, you can use those to travel up the waterfall to the shrine, or you can paraglide over after launching yourself out of the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower. It’s outside and will be visible from afar. The exact coordinates are (-0179, 1170, 0280).

Serutabomac Shrine walkthrough

The Serutabomac Shrine features a series of puzzles focused on controlling water flow and moving floating platforms to reach higher areas. Begin by activating the nearby water mechanisms to raise and lower levels within the room. Use abilities like Ultrahand and Ascend to arrange platforms and create paths to otherwise unreachable spots. Careful timing is needed to cross moving sections safely. Completing the shrine rewards you with a Light of Blessing and offers a good test of combining puzzle-solving with creative use of abilities.

To navigate Serutabomac Shrine, you’ll need to use Link’s Ultrahand and Ascend abilities, making your own Ascend-able platforms.

1. When you enter, you’ll find a square metal panel on the ground. Pick it up using Ultrahand.

2. Place the panel on the two protruding support beams on the wall so that it rests parallel to the floor.

3. Use Ascend to travel up on top of the panel, then jump up to the next section of the shrine.

4. In the second section of the shrine, you’ll find two metal panels on the ground but only one support beam on the wall. You have a few options.

5. If you want to go with Ascend again, you can connect the metal panels together at a right angle, using one panel as your Ascend platform with the other hanging down to help balance it on the single beam. The easier way, however, is to connect the panels to form a ramp, then rest the ramp on the beam and walk up.

6. The third and final section of the shrine contains the treasure chest, which is blocked off by floor spikes and is otherwise out of reach. You’ll have to build yourself an Ascend platform to reach it.

7. Use Ultrahand to make a capital “T” shape with the long metal panel and one of the square metal panels. Then use Ultrahand to stick the other square metal panel to the opposite end, forming a capital “I” shape (if the capital “I” wasn’t just one line like in some fonts).

8. Use Ultrahand to move your scaffold to rest on the spikes, then jump onto the bottom square panel. Use Ascend to travel up to the top square panel, then jump up to find the treasure chest. Inside is a magic rod.

How to reach Serutabomac Shrine without unlocking Lookout Landing Tower

Serutabomac Shrine lies north of Hyrule Castle on a floating island at coordinates (-0179, 1170, 0280), accessible without the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower.โ€‹

Ground Approach from Castle

Start at the Hyrule Castle Docks in Central Hyrule, reachable early via the main quest path. Climb the castle’s exterior walls using Ascend on rock ledges and fallen debris, avoiding or stealthing past enemies like Black Bokoblins. Enter the castle via the throne room or side passages to reach the upper terraces, then glide northeast from high vantage points like the sanctum roof toward the floating island-stamina upgrades or elixirs aid the distance.[conversation_history]โ€‹

Sky Island Gliding Routes

Launch from Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower (northwest, unlocked via early optional cave quests) and paraglide southeast across sky islands, using updrafts and Zonai wings if found on intermediate platforms. Alternatively, from Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower west of the castle, chain glides via nearby sky archipelagos, prioritizing stamina management with food buffs.โ€‹

Tips for Success

Travel at night to minimize enemy patrols, and equip stealth gear or Attractive runes to distract foes during castle infiltration. Once on the shrine’s B1 level platform, enter directly-no additional climbing needed.โ€‹โ€‹

Alternative routes to Serutabomac Shrine from ground level

Hyrule Castle Docks Path

Reach the Hyrule Castle Docks from the Central Hyrule plains via the river path south of the castle, accessible early after getting the paraglider. Swim upstream or use a raft, then climb the exterior walls using Ascend on vine-covered ledges and debris piles while dodging enemies; from the throne room or sanctum, head northwest and drop down to the shrine on B1 level near the waterfall.[conversation_history]โ€‹

Cliff and Ridge Climbing Route

Approach from the west side of Hyrule Castle’s ground level near the moat. Scale the cliffs using wall climbing stamina boosts from food (like Stamella Shrooms), sticking to shaded ridges to avoid detection, then paraglide short distances between terraces until reaching the floating section’s northern edge for a direct glide to the shrine platform.โ€‹โ€‹

Zonaite Balloon or Wing Ascent

Craft a hot air balloon at ground level using five wood planks, a balloon cloth (from Zonai dispensers or scavenged), and a fire source under it near Lookout Landing. Float up over castle walls, then detach and paraglide to the shrine; alternatively, attach fans to a Zonai Wing found nearby for powered flight across the gap.โ€‹

Stealth Tips

Go at night with stealth elixirs or Miner’s Armor; distract foes using Bomb Flowers or meat bait. Prioritize stamina upgrades for all climbs and glides, as the shrine sits at height 0280 on the floating island.[conversation_history]โ€‹
