Hidden high above Hyrule, the Vah Medoh Divine Helm offers more than just style-it grants valuable cold resistance for those daring to brave the frozen peaks. Here’s where to find this rare piece of armor and claim a bit of Rito legend for yourself.
When equipped, the Van Medoh Divine Helm will provide you with cold resistance and a base defense of two. The Vah Medoh Divine Helm can be upgraded by visiting one of the Great Fairy locations and using gems, Zonaite, and dazzlefruit. You can technically get it via the use of amiibo, but you can also find it in-game in Hyrule. Here’s how.
Where to find the Vah Medoh Divine Helm in Tears of the Kingdom
Head to the Hebra Mountains and glide or climb to the North Biron Snowshelf Cave, just northwest of Biron Snowshelf at roughly -3960, 3267, 0140. Use a fire source to melt the large ice pillar blocking the cave entrance, then move through the tunnel and break the rock wall to reach the main cavern. Create a flow of water by destroying specific breakable rocks on the cavern walls, which reveals a hidden room containing a chest with the Vah Medoh Divine Helm inside.โ

The Vah Medoh Divine Helm can be found inside the North Biron Snowshelf Cave in the Hebra region at the coordinates (-3960, 3267, 0140). First, you’ll need cold resistant armor or elixirs, and then you’ll need to melt the huge chunk of ice blocking the cave entrance. Inside, you’ll need to blow up the breakable rocks to release water into the main chamber to reveal the chest’s secret room.
North Biron Snowshelf Cave entrance location
The North Biron Snowshelf Cave entrance sits at coordinates 3761, 2229, 0225 on the snowy plateau north of Biron Woods in the Hebra Mountains. Approach from the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower by gliding northeast across the frozen expanse, landing near the sheer ice cliff where a narrow opening reveals the cave amid jagged rock formations. This spot grants access to the Vah Medoh Divine Helm, a cold resistance armor piece ideal for Hebra exploration.

The North Biron Snowshelf Cave’s entrance (-3961, 3258, 0237) is blocked off by a large ice chunk. Melt the ice with any fire imbued weapon to reveal the cave’s opening, and head inside to find the North Biron Snowshelf Cave. Before you destroy the rock floor inside, make sure to grab the three bomb flowers along the path as you’ll need them for the puzzle.
North Biron Snowshelf puzzle solution
Use Ultrahand to lift the three ice blocks from the snowy ground on the North Biron Snowshelf. Stack them against the large boulder blocking the cave entrance. Climb the stack and enter to claim the Vah Medoh Divine Helm, which provides cold resistance when upgraded.

To solve the North Biron Snowshelf puzzle, you’ll need to fill the cave with water by blowing up the breakable rocks on the walls. Glide up the air stream in the middle of the cave to spot nine breakable rocks on the wall. If we mark the rock above the bird statue as one and count off in a clockwise motion, you’ll need to break rocksthree, six, and nine to reveal the room containing the chest. Head inside the room and open the chest to retrieve the Vah Medoh Divine Helm.
Vah Medoh Divine Helm upgrade cost
Upgrading the Vah Medoh Divine Helm at a Great Fairy Fountain requires materials that boost cold resistance and enhance the armor’s defense. The first upgrade uses Ruby and Zonaite, while later levels need more rare items such as Star Fragments or higher quantities of Rubies. Each enhancement increases the helm’s protective value and strengthens its cold resistance bonus, making it ideal for traversing the colder skies and snowy peaks of Hebra and Tabantha.
The Vah Medoh Divine Helm will give you one level of cold resistance, allowing you to resist the freezing environments around Hyrule. Upgrading the Vah Medoh Divine Helm will increase the armor’s defense.
You’ll be able to upgrade the Vah Medoh Divine Helm at a Great Fairy using the following:
- 1-star (4 defense): 1 sapphire, 5 Zonaite, 10 rupees

How to melt the ice blocking North Biron Snowshelf Cave
To melt the ice blocking North Biron Snowshelf Cave in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, use any reliable fire source to target the massive ice block at the entrance (coordinates around -3960, 3243, 0238).โ
Fastest Methods
-
Fuse a Zonai Flame Emitter to a weapon or shield for a continuous stream of fire, melting the ice quickly without much resource drain.โ
-
Shoot Fire Fruit arrows directly at the ice or light an arrow on fire (via nearby campfire or Fire Fruit) and touch it to the block while standing close.โ
Reliable Alternatives
-
Equip a Fire Rod or fuse a ruby to a Magic Rod to create passive heat emission-stand nearby without swinging to melt steadily.โ
-
Light a torch or campfire with flint and woody materials (like pine cones), then hold it against the ice block.โ
Quick Tips
-
Approach from Rospro Pass Skyview Tower by gliding northwest to spot the ice easily.โ
-
The process takes seconds with a Flame Emitter but longer with passive methods; combine sources (e.g., multiple emitters) for huge blocks.โ
-
Equip cold resistance gear first, as the Hebra Mountains are frigid.โ
Best fire sources to melt ice quickly in Tears of the Kingdom
Zonai Flame Emitters stand out as the fastest fire source for melting ice blocks in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom due to their continuous flame stream.โ
Top Methods
-
Fuse Flame Emitter to weapon/shield: Provides endless fire without durability loss when held near ice; multiple emitters speed up huge blocks like North Biron Snowshelf Cave’s entrance.โ
-
Fire Fruit arrows: Quick shots melt ice reliably, especially for distant or precise targeting; fuse Fire Fruit to arrows for on-demand flames.โ
Efficient Alternatives
-
Ruby Rod (Ruby + Magic Rod): Passive heat emission when equipped-no swinging needed, saving weapon durability for prolonged melting.โโ
-
Campfire + Fire weapon: Light wood/flint nearby and hold a flaming weapon (like Flameblade) close for double heat effect.โ
Pro Tips
-
Combine methods (e.g., Flame Emitter + campfire) for massive ice; always wear cold resistance gear in Hebra.โ
-
Avoid wasteful swinging of fire weapons-passive proximity melts faster without resource drain.โโ
